Terms and Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
Welcome to Cookie Porter. By using our extension, you agree to the following terms and conditions, as well as our privacy policy, especially regarding the use of Google OAuth.
1. Use of Google OAuth
Cookie Porter uses Google OAuth to provide a personalized experience and enable data synchronization across devices. The use of Google OAuth is optional and is governed by the following principles:
- Authentication: We use Google OAuth to securely identify your account and allow you to manage your saved data.
- No Passwords: We never request or store your Google password. The entire login process is performed directly on Google's servers.
2. Permissions and Scopes
When you sign in with Google, we request the following specific permissions:
1. OpenID / Email (openid email)
- Purpose: To obtain your basic email address to identify your session and differentiate between multiple accounts.
- Usage: We do not share your email with third parties or use it for marketing purposes.
2. Google Drive App Data (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata)
- Purpose: To create and manage configuration files in a hidden and private folder within your Google Drive.
- Critical Security: This permission DOES NOT give us access to your personal files on Google Drive (documents, photos, etc.). It only allows the extension to access its own application data folder.
- Function: Used exclusively to securely sync your saved cookies and notes between your browsers.
3. Storage and Data Privacy
- Local Data: Your cookies and notes are primarily stored locally in your browser.
- Synchronization: If you choose to sign in, the data is encrypted and uploaded to your
appDataspace on Google Drive. - No Collection: Cookie Porter does not collect, sell, or track your browsing activity. The data you save is yours, and only you have access to it.
- Guest Mode: We offer a mode of use without an account for those who prefer to keep their data strictly local without using Google services.
4. Security
We implement technical security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: Sensitive data is encrypted before being stored or synchronized.
- Access Tokens: Google access tokens are stored securely in the extension's local storage and are never sent to external servers other than Google's.
5. User Rights
You have the right to:
- Revoke Access: You can revoke Cookie Porter's access at any time from your Google account's security settings.
- Delete Data: You can delete your saved data directly from the extension's interface. When uninstalling the extension, local data is automatically deleted.
- Transparency: The extension's code is designed to be transparent in how it handles your information.
6. Contact
